BEAUTY ALL AROUND

Hey, beautiful people!  Happy new month to you all :)

Do you ever wonder why almost every day there's some bad news from some part of the world? I do. Some days I am completely overwhelmed by the ugly happenings going on in the world. It gets me in my feelings and I am pulled back into my invisible shell and just want to stay there forever. I wonder when did humanity become so wicked, when did human on human crimes become the norm. Numerous natural disasters are bound to occur at some point in some place but these days almost every bad event is caused by humans to other humans and it's heartbreaking. These thoughts make me wonder if world peace is all an illusion but then I remember the beauty the world has to offer. Almost everywhere you look, there's beauty all around you. From smiles on a baby's face to kindness from a random stranger to all the forms of nature around us and these little things give me a ray of hope again which I am grateful for.

I started taking pictures of nature around me and beautiful places to remind me there's still a lot of infinite beauty in the world. Hoping someday it'll be more than enough for us all. Every picture I ever took with my iPhone brings a smile on to my face in and this is me hoping it'll do the same to yours. I'm still an amateur photographer (I'll entertain constructive criticism) but I do hope to get better at some point. Here are some of my favorite shots below :)

ACNE WAR : A review on my all time favorite clay mask

Hey, everyone, I promised I'd be more consistent on here in my last post and here I am again :) A link to the last post in case you missed it.

In this blog post, I'd be talking about my struggles with acne, blackheads, whiteheads, and everything that comes with that and how I eventually got rid of them. If you're a female who has gone through puberty, you would know what these are as you'll probably have had some kind of war with them at one point of your life or the other. I like to refer to the constant treatment as the ACNE WAR.

THE WAR

My acne war started when I moved to a different climate region. I was always the type of girl with a smooth face, occasional pimples around that time of the month but never anything serious. Never left my face with spots. Little did I know I had my own time coming haha. Took me a while to adjust to a different weather climate, actually my whole body. Hormones did whatever they liked and I ended up looking like this after a long while. Spots everywhere and I woke up almost every day with a new blackhead it was getting frustrating.

On my last visit to the doctor, I mentioned it, and was advised to increase my daily intake of water which I had promised to do in my "turning 25" blog post. Here's a link to that if you missed it. In case you're wondering what water has to with acne, water is a very important class of food that should be taken every day (she, the doctor told me 8 glasses of water is recommended daily). Keeping the body hydrated regularly is not necessarily a cure for acne but it does help with flushing out the constant build up of toxins in the body which if isn't flushed out can increase the acne build up.

BLOG BREAK & NEW BEGINNINGS

Hello everyone :) Salam Alaykum (Peace be unto you). It's the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, the month of Ramadan and Alhamdullilah (Thank God) for being one of the lucky ones to witness this holy month again. How's it going for us all? Great I hope.

I promise to be more frequent on here seeing I've had the blog for a span of five years and not necessarily active (bad I know) but yes, I still didn't keep up. Recently I had the waves of life hit me down completely but you know what they say, Joy comes in the morning. Life certainly has ups and downs and I didn't get the downs alone. I got my ups TOO! Anyway, this isn't a rant post. I'll call my hiatus a much-needed break. During my time away, I did some soul searching and here are a few things I re-learned about life;

  • Starting with life is a bed of roses which sometimes has thorns and can get uncomfortable.
  • Nobody owes you anything, you owe yourself all the happiness you can get.
  • It is okay to fall down, what matters is how and when you pick yourself back up.
  • Mistakes are meant to teach not tear you down.
  • Trust your instincts (well I trust mine).
  • Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
  • Be kind to people even those who don't deserve your kindness.
  • Sometimes it pays to remain quiet, listen more, notice more.
  • Worrying fixes nothing.
  • Forgiveness sets you free.
  • It's okay to have emotions but don't let them drain you completely.

Promise I'm not a life coach or anything, wink. And oh, as a believer in new beginnings, I got mine recently. Got married and settled down with my best friend. Taking this step after a long time was a dream come true. So here's to new beginnings *insert fireworks & confetti*.

So the adventure begins with balancing my new home, work, and life. Here's hoping it's everything I've always dreamed it to be :) As Ramadan draws to an end, it's been beautiful with my new family and from mine to yours, here's wishing you all a Wonderful Eid Celebration in advance. May all our acts of worship be accepted. Ameen

BOOKS AND THE BEACH

Hi all! Happy Weekend :) So, I've had a couple of free time in my hands recently and guess what I'm filling my free time with? READING! Yes, I love books. I think I’m a book hoarder if that makes any sense haha. There’s a word for it, ‘Bibliomania’, but that’s not what I’ve got as that’s an obsessive-compulsive medical condition (you might want to read up on that if you think you are an obsessive book hoarder). I only have about thirty books I'm hoarding at the moment so it doesn't count as being a bibliomaniac, Right? Yes, right.

Anyway, I recently got my hands on the complete series of “Lemony Snicket’s A series of Unfortunate Events”. Thirteen books in total and Netflix just made a series out of the first four books, the rest will follow I am sure. Growing up, I loved reading these books for some reason, If you're a fan, You Go girl! If you haven’t heard about these books I suggest you don't read them at all for they are filled with a series of unfortunate events endured by the Baudelaire Orphans. (Fiction, don't worry)

Last week I started reading Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterfly. If you have seen the movie, the book is way more informative and although I have not finished reading, there’s a lot I have learned already (I read more than one book at a time, bad habit? Oh well).  Fun fact, I live close to the beach and as much as I love the beach, I've not had the time to go out there and just read one of my favorite books from beginning till the end, would be fun to do ey? (pinning this down in my to-do list).

While I plan my next beach and books visit, taking this time to reminisce the aesthetics of the beach and I have just the right pictures for that :)

As I end this post, Blue Skies by Diana Krall just came up on shuffle and you know what they say? If you're going through any negativity right now, don't worry for joy comes in the morning. I hope you get nothing but blue skies from now on.

Women, A Threat To The World?

In the past and recent times, women all over the world have been subjected to so much discrimination. Ranging from gender prejudice to gender-based violence, sexism, male chauvinism, unequal pay, honor killings, female genital mutilation among many other violence and inequalities, the list is endless. The question is why is a charismatic intelligent woman so threatening to the society that many women in different parts of the society are being discriminated against even in the present 21st century. Honestly, I can’t come up with any befitting answer. Women have been left out for many decades in several decision-making processes and this has ultimately contributed to being a major obstacle in the economic development process in many developing countries.

Tunisia, a country in North Africa has successfully improved political and social women’s representation. Following the 2011 revolution, Former Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid in 2015 at the Global Leaders meeting pledged to expand women’s ability to participate in politics and public affairs as seen on UN WOMEN saying “Our experience in democratic transition recently is witness to the fact that women should be represented in all legislative bodies. Hence, we enhance women’s ability to participate in politics and in public affairs. This is a commitment.” This progress towards creating gender equality and making a more inclusive political system in the country is a major progress making it among the first Arab Nation to improve women’s participation in all forms of life.

Women played lead roles in cleaning up after the spectacular Icelandic financial meltdown. Among these women is Halla Tómasdóttir, an entrepreneur who infused the world of finance with feminine values. Speaking at TEDWomen talk in 2016, Halla mentioned that “nothing works when women are not at work” sighting an example of how Icelandic women in 1975 went on a strike doing no jobs whatsoever for that day whether it was professional or a home job. With 90% of women participating in the strike, they all marched and asked for equality. Five years after this in 1980, Iceland became the first country in the world to democratically elect the first Woman President, President Vigdis Finnbogadottir. Although it wasn’t the first country to give women the right to vote, it became a pacesetter in Europe and the World as a whole. This is seen as an opening door to the country’s gender equality and hope for other nations that women too can occupy leading roles in an economy.

Nigeria’s Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was a Women’s right activist, educationist and political leader who was an activist in the 20th century before feminism began to gain waves in the region at the time. Her prominent activism led to the creation of Abeokuta Women’s union (AWU). The society’s goals included higher educational opportunities for women and girls among other women's rights. She went on to form the Federation of National Women societies in 1953 which later created an alliance with Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF) through which she fought for employment, women’s right to education and political participation. She’s popularly regarded by some people as the “Mother of Africa” as seen on MsAfropolitan as she revolved her life around fighting for women's equality.

With the many great achievements women have made in history and the major strides some countries have taken to improve women’s rights and representation in politics, there is still a lot more work to be done. So many women, especially in third world countries, developing rural areas are still being held back from participating fully in social and economic aspects of life or even allowed to have a voice. Women too are human beings and should have access to the basic human rights in every country. Looking at the great accomplishments many women have achieved so far, it is pertinent to note that with facile and developing access to equal rights and empowerment. Women can make great positive changes and bring about socio-economic development around the world especially in developing countries.

In honor of March being National Women’s History Month in the United States, this is going to all the unrecognized girls and women all over the world who are constantly putting themselves through life-threatening risks fighting for women’s rights and trying to make sure other girls and women have a better world to live in where they would not have to fight for basic human rights.

Women are HUMANS too and not a THREAT to the world.

GRATITUDE

It's the fifth day of the new year and my heart is filled with so much gratitude. I decided to start off the new year with it a daily dose of positivism and it's been great so far! I realized that as much as it is important to be realistic with life and everything it throws at you, it is equally important to be positive-minded.

This is me pledging

  • to live through the year being happy no matter the lemons life throws my way.
  • to be obsessively appreciative and grateful for life itself.
  • to never forget the best things in life are absolutely free (now a lot of people might argue with me about this but I mean it, the best things in life surely comes at no cost just like love, the air we breathe, beautiful mother nature, family, hugs, sleep, friends, laughter...and many more!
  • to collect more beautiful moments not things.
  • to be thankful for good health, family, love and more.
  • to meditate often.
This isn't a new years resolution list but an affirmation that practicing the above daily leads to more energy, higher emotional intelligence, less depression. less anxiety and better sleep. I particularly love this inspirational quote from "Melody Beattie"

"GRATITUDE unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home. a stranger into a friend."

Gratitude is surely the shortest path to Happiness.....

Here's wishing everyone a Prosperous and a Joyful new year :)

Love, M.

A REMOTE WINTER GET-AWAY

Sight seeing is fun. Hanging out is fun too but getting away from work and all the hustling and busy city life during the Winter is mega awesome!

Last weekend I went away with mine to a remotely quiet city, far away from the sun and 80 degrees Fahrenheit weather in December, crazy right?  I blame it all on "global warming", a topic for another day. The highlight of this getaway was the snow even though I normally can't stand extreme chilly weather which is funny for someone who was born and lived close to the North Pole, no kidding. Like I always say, everything looks more beautiful when it snows.

The drive up here was fun because I wasn't the one driving. Okay I'm kidding, road trips are always fun (if you don't get road sick) P.S I got mint gums to the rescue since I normally get road sick over long rides. The scenery and change in altitude as we moved closer to the mountains were extremely breath-taking and since I caught a new hobby (taking pictures of mother nature) I could not resist taking a lot of pictures. I've decided to share some of them here :)

Beautiful right? I obsess over nature and don't know if it's a good thing but I love nature and I'm not afraid to show off beautiful pictures from my amateur nature photography album, which I'll be doing more often now and I'm particularly excited for that. It was quite a long drive but soon we neared our destination and yes! Heavenly snow! Everywhere! See Pictures below

Another thing that fascinates me is Water. I mentioned in one of my previous post how the beach is  one of my favourite place to hang out, well I found out there is a lake here and took some beautiful  pictures of it as soon as I had savoured the moment just to always remind me of one the beautiful  creations of Allah (God). See pictures of the lake below

I didn't want to leave but knowing I probably won't survive the harsh snowy weather for long  anyway was a consolation for me. Overall, it was great, beautiful, quiet and I'd love to come back  someday soon. :)

NEITHER HERE NOR THERE

We live in a world where a person is largely defined by his/her race. Certain non-positive things that has happened today and in the past has been due to the answer of this very simple non-destructive question... "What race do you belong to?".

Growing up as a mixed/bi-racial girl, i wasn't quite sure if I was lucky or unlucky to be of  European and African descent. It wasn't until I grew older and started feeling really lucky because despite all the negativity from family members and random people everywhere I visited, I realized my awesomeness doesn't depend on what race or races I belong to or my genetic makeup as people like to think.

One would think it is easy growing up mixed but asides the awkward stares over the years, i have had to answer to a billion and one questions from people, friends, teachers, lecturers wondering what i am. Questions that made me feel weird because of their replies to my answers. For instance, when someone asks me "where are you from?" I automatically tell them where my dad is from - i identify as being Nigerian. The next thing they say is No, you can't be Black, you are too pale to be Black. Are both your parents black? You don't look like us (this has to be the most annoying/painful remark for it made me feel unwanted quite a lot of times), there's something else about you. That's how most of my conversations go. Other times, i answer them with my mum's country, i get various other negative kinds of reactions ( you cant be from Russia, you are black). Okay society, what do you want me to say really?  Suddenly, i stopped wanting to answer anyone. It's like i didn't belong here or there. Many times i have felt embarrassed just for being mixed but of course they didn't think it was coming off that way and up till date i sometimes don't know how to react to these remarks.

I had a hard time coming to terms with my racial identity. Was i black? Was i white? What am i? Did i belong to that race or this race? I knew what my parents racial identities were but my racial identity as a kid and through my teenage years was a drag. Always explaining or wondering what to identify as is still a tough decision when people make you feel like you have to choose just one. The one-drop rule. You can't be black and white people have told me severally. Deciding what race to be on when you look nothing like either but a mix is tough. I was born and brought up in a predominantly white society and i have also lived most of my youth in an all black country. If there's one thing i learned, it is that the majority of the white society don't see you as one of them neither does the Black community. They both believe you to be foreign, different and honestly, it isn't a complement.

I just wanted to be a person. A human being of the human race that'll be accepted just the way i am with no lingering questions and negativity but unfortunately that isn't the world we live in. Consciously or unconsciously, race depicts so many aspects and bits of our lives. Now that i'm older and learning that my racial identity is a part of who i am, i will not choose where to belong. I can be black and i can be white and exist as me. I will not let any imaginary boundary others push onto people like me make me have to choose what race to identify as and love, what cultures to adore, what things to get interested in as regards to race. I am who i am, I am Bi-racial and this does not mean i am anti-black or pro-white, it is just me accepting myself for what i am regardless of what the society wants me to identify as and accepting yourself is one of the greatest form of love :)

MY JOURNEY IN THE MODELLING INDUSTRY AS A MUSLIMAH

Over the years as I grew up, I have had people question my religion. More like basically everything with me. I get questions like “why do you always wear a head scarf” ? “Why can’t you open your hair today”? What does your hair look like? Sometimes its oppressing as people can ask way more intimidating questions but I’ve learned never to get thrown back by these and one thing I always thought of being, asides a medical personnel was to be a Model.
Not your regular fashion “Victoria secret models” as my religion wouldn’t allow that but a different kind of model. A model that will stand out and be recognized everywhere as a unique one and I had that chance back in 2012 when I made my debut in the Nigerian Modelling Industry signing a contract with a Telecommunications Company (MTN) as a commercial model on their billboard campaign advert that year.

I was called for series of auditions in which only myself appeared with a headscarf. I had glances here and there and I thought to myself, “maybe I’m the wrong place” as other Models  appeared in short dresses, 6″ heels, tight pants and I was there modestly dressed with my hijab.

I got called back from among hundreds of models, along with another female model (Mildred Odimegwu Miss Tourism Nigeria) for the campaign Ad. I was so thrilled and never saw that coming because women who wear headscarves are usually shunned in the fashion/modelling world. I was reluctant at first but I eventually took it up.

Over the years I’ve been to various auditions, meetings with clients, gone for castings and I can tell you; every time I walk into the room, I am the only one using a headscarf. So much so that many other models present both male and female have consistently asked me if it was a costume or not because what are the odds? A muslim and a model? Something isn’t right they thought. But I looked beyond the odds. I looked at diversity. I looked at what the media thinks of Muslims.I looked at what the fashion industry thinks of Muslims and their fashion sense and these just plunged me forward, gave me the courage to walk into every cast I have ever been to and walk out only to be called back for the job. And when they ask most of the time but very politely “can you take off your headscarf”? I reply “No, i can’t..”With a smile. And we still work together at the end of the day! So much so that I don’t mind anymore when I appear among other models as the only model using a headscarf! It gives me great joy and a sense of fulfillment, Masha Allah.

Apart from being recognized as a Muslim Model, everyone I work with respects my religion and preferences. My relationship with other male models if I have to work with them or male make-up artists, stylists, directors, photographers, the entire cast per say.. they have always been mindful and respectful. I can remember being on a scene for a television advert for Galactic sweet (Nigeria) when the directors told everyone on set to allow me just sit for my scene instead of doing the choreographed dance like every other model on set did just to respect my religion because in the director’s words “he wouldn’t want a hijab wearing model to appear dancing on TV and to not stir up negative comments” . That was awesome!

I cannot say it has been rosy all through, side comments, agencies requesting for my pictures without the headscarf for modelling jobs, tempting offers, and so on, but I have remained relentless in my vision to keep representing Islam in every way that I can and that includes being a practicing muslim woman and a model on the side.

I’m amazed at the response gotten so far from the modelling industries as I’ve always been called back regardless of my hijab and I have been approached to be represented by top modelling agencies in Nigeria and Africa recently. They get it. There should always be space for accepting other cultures, religion and diversity as a whole.
Alhamdullilah, over the years I’ve worked with various top Brands in Nigeria representing them and still being a Muslim.

Some may say modelling disagrees with the tenets of Islam but I disagree. As long as I’m dressed modestly and according to Islamic rules and that means not exposing any part of my body, I’m good. It’s just Dawah in a form, promoting the Hijab and Islam as a whole. Showing the world a different side to us than what the media might have proclaimed us as, and that isn’t forbidden in Islam.

Does your weight really matter?

"Sigh"... she looked at herself in the mirror wondering what to do to herself. To starve or not? She can feel the hunger pangs but this time she's not giving in to it. She walks out of the bathroom and changes her mind almost immediately. She's going towards the kitchen, "it's whatever"  her subconscious mind thinks. "She" is "Us"! We all know this story. We have felt this way somehow one way or another before.

Does your weight really matter? NO. The questions we should be asking are, "Are you healthy?" "Is Your BMI normal?" The body's weight is just a number that is unfortunately linked to the body's health. So knowing the answers to these questions will help in figuring out what to pay attention to and what not to. Society today portrays a healthy body as a skinny body but unfortunately, a very small percentage of people actually are skinny and a large percentage of people out there are being mislead by the common notion "you have to be skinny to be healthy". Everyone is different, we can't all be the same way but we can learn to live healthy and be comfortable in our own skin.

Personally, i am naturally skinny and i always have been this way. But taking a course on Nutritional Biochemistry back in school, i found out my BMI (Body Mass Index) was below 18 which is considered underweight according to WHO as an adult over 20 years, did i consider myself healthy? NO.  Still some people who weighed more than me wanted to be like me. I weighed 50kg at the time, i was underweight which is unhealthy and dangerous as much as being over-weight can be dangerous for our health too. It's not the outward looks that matter, what really matters is are you healthy and how do you live a healthy eating lifestyle as the food we eat largely contributes to the number the scale reads.

First of all, if you have done your BMI and you're of normal weight, it doesn't matter what you look like, whether you look like the typical model you've always fancied that has thigh gaps or not, your body is healthy and it's high time you started accepting your body and become comfortable with yourself. You are beautiful the way you are and above all you are healthy which is the most important. But, if your BMI's nutritional status falls under the over-weight or obese figures, you might want to lose some of that weight and not because you want to fit into the society or feel "beautiful" because you are already beautiful inside and outside, instead do it for yourself, your body deserves to be healthy and starving yourself is the wrong way to go about it.

Here are a few things to know when losing weight.
  • DO NOT starve yourself or skip meals, you only slow down your body's metabolism and in turn burn less calories.
  • Exercising is important but doing that alone never helps to shed a few pounds.
  • A whole lot of your losing weight comes from your diet. A healthy nutritional plan will give your body the required calories and still help you prevent or lower the risk of weight related health diseases.
  • Know that staying healthy does not mean having an unrealistic thin body or having strict dieting plans.
  • Eating healthy means having a balanced diet in all your meals.
  • Make a habit of drinking enough water daily. Water is generally calorie free which means it is linked to reduced weight gain. So the next time you're thirsty and having a beverage or soda comes to your mind, take a bottle of WATER instead :)
  • Not all fat is harmful to the body. In fact, Fat is an essential part of a balanced diet and is required for healthy eating. Taking in healthy fat in the required amounts can help the body supply energy, absorb fat-soluble vitamins, help provide fat the body needs but can't manufacture and so much more. I would go into the biochemical importance of fats, what's healthy and what isn't, saturated and unsaturated fats but this isn't a science article so maybe in another post i"ll do just that.
  • Still on healthy fats, saturated fat in our diet is dangerous for the body so to limit your intake of those replace animal meat, fried foods, butter and the likes with fatty fishes, avocados (high in unsaturated fat, helps with cardiovascular health and they can lower cholesterol and LDL- Low Density Lipo proteins, bad fats and replaces it with HDL- High density lipo proteins), non-fat or low-fat diary produce, cheese, etc. A few healthy fatty foods we can actually eat and enjoy!
  • Eat more of whole grain foods, fruits and legumes. Also, have a stress-free mind because emotional health matters too in having a healthy weight.

Good luck with losing some excess weight and keep in mind, your diet helps a lot more with having a healthy weight and being too slim might mean your BMI is not all that great, hence pay more attention to your diet as well! It all begins and end with healthy eating. By the way, my BMI is 21.0 right now so YAY!

Love, M.

Turning 25

Please make it stop... I am getting old... Can i be 16 again?..

These are phrases you are likely to hear from people who are about to turn 25 or are 25 already. What is it really that is so scary about the silver jubilee age? What is it about the age that apparently seems so much adult-like, different from ages 22, 23, 24..? For a girl who's turning 25 in a couple of months i definitely feel this way.  I was so happy and free from worries when i turned 18. I was finally legal (in my residential country).

Turning 18 was awesome! The salient reason it was a such big deal for me was because finally i can utter the words "i am now an adult". Like it was everything i wanted but it wasn't all. Down the years i wanted other things too. Among these was getting my first degree in a couple of years, become a surgeon like i always dreamed of (this was the top of my to-do list). Just like every other dream that never came true, not all these happened. That did not kill all my hopes because i thought i still had  time, "a few more years before i become 25" i would tell myself almost everyday.

I turned 24 and there was just one more year before 25 and boy did i get so scared. My 24th year came with many changes. I took many risks and well still i didn't get everything i planned to. In-spite of this, other plans i didn't have came to life. I did achieve more.. Got a first degree i love so much with honors. Graduated best in the department (icing on the cake). Found love where i didn't think was possible. Made friends that became family. Now, i did get to work in a hospital like i always wanted but not as a surgeon, not yet anyway lol. I became a professional model and didn't think this was possible. The reason being i always have a veil over my head (the hijab). I learned it's okay to not be loved by everyone and that making mistakes were okay as long as you learn from them. Made a big move earlier this year.. Never learned to swim even though the beach happens to be one of my favorite places to hang out. I know, weird right? or maybe not. Growing older made me learn to appreciate the presence of family and loved ones. Above all, my perspective on different things in life changed.

As i grow older and anticipate my 25th year, i don't expect to be the same person i was years ago. Life changes you. You only get to decide if that change is good or bad. The point is over the years, things happened. Different from what i had planned for these 'legal' years. I have learned that it's okay because as it turns out to be, it couldn't have gone any better. Right now, i cannot wait to see what the silver jubilee year would bring me. Maybe tick-off more from my teenage-adult to-do list or bring more surprises like the previous years did. Hopefully great ones!

I plan on studying more, making more remarkable memories and learning more lessons. Reading more books, learning more about my religion, drinking more water daily (sometimes i forget to drink water daily) and visit places that'll distract me from worldly dramas. Planning is key but as i've learned you can only hope and work towards your plans. More than often life plans itself with little or no help from you and sometimes it's not so terrible!

Cheers to another year and to growing older, wiser and stronger.

A woman's beauty

Beauty. Everyone probably has their own definition of this word. A layman would say beauty means something that which is attractive and pleasing to the eye and this would in most case mean he or she is talking about the physical qualities of a person. That's one angle to it.
Now I've done my own research and frankly 78% of people today see a woman's beauty as that which she possesses, her facial looks, her body structure, her wardrobe and so many other physical items. I'm not saying they are totally wrong but it is sad that one would look out for only these things in a woman today to count her as being beautiful.
A woman's beauty should not be limited to her looks alone. There are various things to look out for in a woman before concluding she's beautiful. Character contributes to your beauty. As a woman, your character should speak for you. You might have the most radiant of faces and best of wardrobes but all these are nothing with a bad character. You are only as beautiful as you think you are when you posses good characters.
Humility. Humility is very attractive. Trust me, there's nothing more repelling than a woman who is proud. I know this because I'm a lady too. Try it, be humble instead of proud, it's really not that tedious. I mentioned this because these days, we find pride more common among ladies who have good looks and body structures. As a lady, all of that is nothing if you are proud. It automatically makes you repelling.
Kindness, be kind to people. Don't be rude, although I know people will want to get on your nerves from time to time because you are good looking and all of that but this does not give you the go ahead to be rude to people. Beauty is not in the face, it's a light that shines from within your heart. There's no wrong a kind heart would do, it only makes you as a woman much more attractive and beautiful. Know how to handle annoying people and pests in such a way you avoid being rude to them.
I can go on and on talking about what makes a woman beautiful asides her physical looks but why not try the ones I've talked about already. Beauty is how you feel inside and it reflects in your eyes. As a woman, you can only be truly beautiful not only to the public eye but to yourself which is the most important thing when you start minding what's coming from your heart more than your physical looks. And remember, people are like glass-stained windows. They shine and reflect in the sun, but when the darkness comes, you can only see their true beauty if there's a light shining from within.

Live, love and laugh

Life is a bed of roses.
The Earth is filled with lots of love and so many countless beautiful things. I know many people will want to argue with my first line here, but really it takes the right set of mind to be able to get the best out of life. No one is getting out alive, so hey.. why not spend our time wisely and always live a positive life, keep a positive and perhaps an optimistic mind. But as usual, there's always a glitch in almost every situation we find ourselves in, not all.
Now I know good things don't come easily, people misbehave, disappointments are bound to happen, bad things happen to good people, loved ones hurt us and life hands out lemons at some point, but you know what I say? When these things happen, just say well damn the lemons and bail or hey, you could make lemonade.
My point is, live, love and laugh. No one on earth finds it easy. We all got one problem or another but the only difference is we choose how to deal with our problems. We either sit and wallow in it or we get up and face it. Either ways, it's our choice and for one, I know what my choice would be.
So why not use the little time we have here on earth wisely and beautifully, spend it on love and laughter instead of hate and sadness and you'll see living will be much more fun.
